The college of pharmacy at the University of Baghdad held an electronic workshop entitled “Theories of cancer” delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ajwad Awad al-Sumaidai from the Pharmaceuticals & Toxins Branch via Zoom platform. The workshop included a review of modern theories concerned with the emergence of cancer as well as the environmental and genetic factors prepared for the mechanisms of pathological physiology, the means of the spread and diagnosis of this disease. The lecturer stated that Oncogenesis is a complex, multi-step process by which normal cells turn into cancerous cells, leading to cancer growth in the body. The participants talked about all aspects related to the definition of benign and malignant cancer concepts and the mechanisms for the work of some drugs used in treatment in accordance with the confirmed or assumed theories of the emergence and spread of tumors.
