The department of biotechnologies, in collaboration with the continuing education unit at the college of science has organized an interesting training workshop entitled “Reluctance to get Covid-19 vaccines: reasons and solutions” in the presence of a number of students, researchers and medical and pharmaceutical professionals. The lectures were delivered by Dr. Abdullah al-Baghdadi, Dr. Ali Abdul Hussein and Dr. Ali Qasim Khazal with the aim to clarify the mechanism of how vaccines work with a special explanation of each type of vaccines as well as answering the most common questions about the effectiveness of a vaccine or the damage caused by.
The lecturers tried to review some scientific facts and to refute the widespread rumors about this pandemic and vaccines for the sake of raising health awareness among faculty members and students, with the aim of encouraging people to be vaccinated and adhering to preventive measures, stating that the vaccines proved to be effective across the world in protecting against the disease, not deteriorating the patient’s condition or to reduce or prevent the possibility of entering the hospital, even the need for intensive care and effectively reduce the mortality rate and the importance of vaccination to ensure a healthy environment suitable for students and teaching staff and to ensure the appropriate conditions for higher education.
