The college of nursing at the University of Baghdad has organized recently an awareness seminar on the harms of smoking with the participation of a number of faculty members in the Mental Health Nursing Branch to address the topic of “Smoking and Addiction”. This event aimed to spread the culture of awareness among students of undergraduate studies on the harms of smoking and its negative effects on people and community in general.
The participants delivered lectures on the introduction of smoking, its negative effects and the anti-smoking methods, with a reference to the anti-smoking law No. 19 of 2012 and called on students to abide by the laws and spread a culture of awareness among the community as part of the nurse’s duties in the community. For her part, the dean of the college stated that the university seeks to improve its scientific, practical and awareness products and to reduce the spread of negative smoking among students because it is usually a bad habit that has negative impacts on their health condition.
