The Iraqi Digital Media Forum has awarded the college of media at the University of Baghdad with the Iraqi Digital Innovation Award for the elite digital organization category because of the college’s role in providing the foundation and infrastructure of this field and developing digital skills of students and specialists so as to upgrade their active contributions in the digital culture based on digital media education.

The forum was sponsored by Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in coordination with the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) and a number of civil society organizations and the private sector partnership and it witnessed a great participation from the ministries of education, interior, higher education and national security Participation in addition to the contributions of the Iraqi Media Network. The dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Amar Taher, stressed during his speech the need to support all practices that would improve the Iraqi digital media sector, noting the importance of supporting and empowering young people by providing access to resources necessary to create an innovative content. Then Dr. Safad al-Shammari, chairman of the forum’ board of directors, stated that the next stage will witness the launch of the Iraqi digital track strategy with the participation of several important sectors in the Iraqi state which have expressed their willingness to cooperate jointly in this regard, announcing that the launch of the first virtual training package in Iraq at the onset of the current new year with the aim to involve global digital expertise in the country.
