The Pediatric and Preventive Dental Branch at the college of dentistry held a workshop entitled “Medical waste in dental clinics and its environmental and health risks” presented by the Assist. Lecturer Mohammed Qahtan who discussed the optimal mechanism for describing the types of medical waste in dental clinics and how to deal with them with a focus on the importance of teamwork and cooperation between all faculty members, students and employees alike. The lecturer also asserted that if this waste is not dealt with properly and thoroughly, it may lead to an environmental risk and recommended a set of procedures that should be adopted by the faculty members and employees in compliance with laws, legislation, limitations and various methods in order to reduce the risk of these medical pollutants.
