The department of geography at the college of education for women has organized an online symposium entitled (The challenges faced by the population in Iraq” via Google Meet platform.

The seminar aimed to highlight the most important population sectors in the country and the most vivid demographic challenges facing Iraqi people in the face of progress towards eradicating poverty and reducing unemployment, especially among young people, that result in public resources & services depletion as well as excessive urbanization and exacerbating the problem of informal housing as a result of the political, economic and social conditions that the country has gone through over the past decades, which prevented the provision of the simplest requirements of a decent life. It is noteworthy that many professors have participated in this event by presenting valuable research papers that addressed the topics related to this issue to reach at a set of recommendations, the most important of which is the need to conduct the general census so as to provide a real database in all areas of life that may assist the government to draw up development plans in health, education, housing, services, etc.
