The center for women’s studies at the University of Baghdad held a workshop at the Iraqi ministry of foreign affairs on (Promoting the economic and political empowerment of Iraqi women) presented by the head of the department of international community research, Assist. Prof. Dr. Abeer Najim Abdullah al-Khalidi, in response to the United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 1325 and in implementation of Iraq’s contractual obligations under international and regional resolutions and agreements related to women.

This event was attended by His Excellency the Foreign Minister Dr. Fouad Hussein, and the Under Secretary for Political Planning Affairs Dr. Saleh Hussein Ali al-Tamimi and members of the attachés and consultants for promotion students at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI). This workshop dealt with three main themes, the first one dealth with a presentation of a documentary on the implementation of Resolution 1325 in the Arab countries in general and Iraq in particular, and the second theme included a lecture on the nature of the agreements and resolutions on women’s rights, the implementation of this resolution, the issue of gender and the launch of the second national action plan to implement and follow up the activation of this resolution during the period (2021-2024), as well as the launch of the National Observatory for Legislation as a nucleus for providing legislation for Iraqi women.
