The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Bio-technologies Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad held a training course on “Bio-risk management curriculum” for master’s students who are at the research stage, delivered by Prof. Dr. Essam Fadel Alwan, in coordination with the University Committee for Chemical, Biological and Radiological Safety and Security at the Institute. The course aimed to introduce graduate students to the importance of assessing biological risks and threats faced in laboratories and how to deal with accidental incidents. The lecturer recommended the need to dispose of vital waste to ensure that the environment in work is not contaminated or posing any risks to workers or to the community, in addition to the need for focusing on the most important public safety guidelines in laboratories.
