The department of public policy at the center for strategic and international studies at the University of Baghdad has organized a seminar on “Evaluating the response of Iraqi state institutions to the Covid-19 pandemic” delivered by Prof. Dr. Satar al-Jabri. Al-Jabri who tried in this event to explain how the Iraqi institutions responded to the repercussions of the Corona virus from the time of its outbreak including the total and partial curfew resolutions which were not properly applied in Iraq. He added that the experience with the comprehensive curfew is not positive since the citizens did not abide by state resolutions and many believe that its negative effects outweigh its positives, causing damages related to the standard of living, economic, security and psychological aspects, although it was useful in the early days of infection. Dr. Satar al-Jabri also explained that the hospitals in Iraq are not qualified to deal with such emergencies, because the system of corruption controlled by the health sector and in the field of education was clearly slow in the management of electronic platforms due to many reasons, including the lack of expertise among the teaching staff and the students, as well as the lack of commitment towards e-education for professors and students.
