Dr. Fadhil Abdul Amir Sharif, a faculty member from the department of Arabic language at the college of Islamic sciences has participated recently in an international conference sponsored by the college of arts at Mustansiriyah University in cooperation with the House of Wisdom (Beit al-Hikma) that was held under the slogan (Visual discourse between freedom of expression and incitement of hatred in images and caricature: Interpretive approaches). Dr. Fadhil Abdul Amir submitted a research paper entitled (The poetry of satirical discourse in the poems of al-Jawahiri), in which he pointed out that the method of ridicule has occupied a large part of the poetic discourse of the great Arab poet Mohammed Mahdi al-Jawahiri (1899-1997), so we find many vivid manifestations of satirical political discourse in his poetry via three aspects: ridicule of the colonizer, ridicule of the rulers, and ridicule to rise up and stimulate the consciousness of society. At the conclusion of this literary and cultural event, Dr. Fadhil Abdul Amir was honored with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his valuable and active participation in the success of this international conference.
