The head of the department of pure sciences at the center for the revival of Arab scientific heritage, Prof. Dr. Saadi Ibrahim al-Darraji, gave a lecture at the Higher Institute of Islamic Civilization in Al-Zaytoonah University in Tunis entitled “The city of Baghdad: rise and development”. In this lecture, the researcher talked about many topics, including the historical factors of the establishment of Baghdad and the importance of its location and strategic value, addressing the civilized dimensions of the circular city of Abu Jaafar al-Mansour, besides its urban origin and its defensive fortifications of trench, marshes and towers and houses, the Great Mosque & palace of al-Mansur. Also Dr. Saadi al-Darraji outlined in this study how dar al-Caliphate (palace of caliphate) moved to the eastern side of Baghdad along with the most important remaining landmarks there, then he talked about how the Mustansiriya Madrasah (Mustansiriyah school) and the Abbasid palace were built.
