The center for the revival of Arab scientific heritage at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the al-Kadhimiyah center for the revival of heritage at the General Secretariat of the Holy Kadhimiyah Threshold, has organized a scientific symposium under the slogan “Al-Kadhimiyah:the city of science and scholars”. Several research papers have been presented in this event, including a joint research delivered by Dr. Alaa Nafi Jassim and Dr. Zainab Kamel Karim entitled (Professor Naji Mahfouz and his efforts in reviving heritage) in which they shed light on the knowledge of Prof. Naji Ali Mohammed who was one of the distinguished figures in heritage and has credit for history and scientific achievement.

Then Mr. Abdul Karim al-Dabbagh presented a research paper entitled (Husseinia Al-Haidaria and its intellectual and cultural role in the holy city of Kadhimiyah) in which he talked about the historical depth of the city of Kadhimiyah that is extending to pre-Islamic era and highlighting its intellectual and cultural role. Also Mr. Mohammed Hassan Faisal delivered a research paper entitled (Reading in the archives of Dr. Hussein Ali Mahfouz) that addressed the importance of heritage studies that are representing the historical, scientific and cognitive treasury. Prof. Dr. Saadi Ibrahim al-Darraji then spoke about the most important historical significance of the tombs of Quraysh as well as the greatness of the men buried in this cemetery and their scientific, social and historical status. However, Dr. Alaa Karim Farhan dealt with the identity in the cultural legacy of the holy city of Kadhimiyah in which he addressed the problems suffered by ancient cities, such as the problem of urban renewal and its relevance with the redevelopment of large areas in the main cities. At last, the lecturer Samir Amori al-Khazali presented a paper entitled “Al-Kadhimiyah in the eyes of travellers and orientalists” in the literary description of journeys.
