Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad has recived in his office the president of the International Association of Universities (IAU) Prof. Dr. Orhan Hikmet Azizoğlu and his delegation in the presence of the members of the university’s council. The rector at first welcomed his guests and gave an overview in detail about the University of Baghdad since its foundation in 1908 up to the present, with a reference to the organizational structure and department of all faculties, postgraduate institutes and research centers, stating that the number of students has exceeded 70,000 students in undergraduate and postgraduate studies, which has grown rapidly in recent years, and where more than 5,000 research papers have been published during 2021 in international repositories.

For his part, Dr. Orhan Hikmet Azizoğlu stressed to resume work with the University of Baghdad, activating the exchange of experiences, developing skills, supporting student projects and providing free grants for postgraduate studies, as well as strengthening cooperation in the field of scientific research and holding seminars, lectures and joint international scientific conferences. Dr. Munir al-Saadi confirmed that the university offers free grants to Turkish students, as well as mutual fellowships, postdoctoral study, research supervision, postgraduate studies, conferences, joint research, visiting professor mechanisms and summer training programs for students, as well as a program for the development of teaching staff and scientific memorandums of understanding between the two parties. The guests then visited the college of science and the college of physical education and sports sciences to keep abreast of their infrastructure, halls, stadiums and swimming pools at the colleges, expressing his happiness to visit the university once again.
