Assist. Prof. Dr. Sudad Kazim al-Taweel, a faculty member at department of field crops at the college of agricultural engineering sciences has recently participated in the national consultation workshop held on the sidelines of the SAVVI project framework entitled “Enhancing the competitiveness of the value chain in agribusiness in Iraq while improving the trade policy” sponsored and organized by the International Trade Center (ITC) which is the joint mediator between the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations organization at the Royal Tulip Al-Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad.
This five-year project, funded by 22.5 million euro by the European Union aims to contribute to the development of policies related to the agricultural production sectors, namely transplanting tomatoes as well as the poultry sector and how to develop proposed action plans for each sectoral strategy, also to contribute to overall growth and job creation for Iraqi young citizens. It is noteworthy that this national consultative meeting witnessed the participation of representatives from the ministries of agriculture, planning, trade and higher education, agricultural associations and the private sector.
