Prof. Dr. Kareem Ali Jasim, a faculty member at the department of physics at the college of education for pure & applied (Ibn al-Haitham) and his master’s student (Riam Abdul Zahra Fadhil) have recently participated in the proceedings of the TMREES Conference (Technologies and Materials for Renewable Energy, Environment and Sustainability) held in Greece with the aim to bring together participants from international organizations, universities and industry to exchange innovative ideas, explore enabling technologies for sustainable development and to open a new window on the circumstances of the classical energy sources & their harmful impact on the society.

They submitted a research paper entitled (Sensitize the electrical properties of partial substitution on Mercury-Base superconductor manufactured by the solid reaction method) that gained the second place out of the top eight researches in the fields of studying mercury partially replaced by the red lead of the chemical compound Hg1-xPbxBa2Ca2Cu3O8+δ with X = (0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25) by solid reaction method. The researchers tried to study the electrical properties using the four-electrode technique to determine the critical temperatures of samples and to see the effect of the partial replacement of mercury with red lead and they found that both critical temperatures and the energy gap are slightly affected by partial substitution based on the final critical temperature values that were obtained (TC offset 117.1, 121.9, 121.1 120.1, Kelvin 113.4, 117.6).
