The deanship of Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad represented by the dean of the college, Assist. Prof. Dr. Maher Yahya Salloum al-Abbasi announced that it was lately equipped a CNC machine which is the first and the latest of its kind at the university that would be used for training students and developing engineers and technicians at the college.
It is noteworthy that this machine is a computer numerical control, commonly called (CNC) used for the automated control of machining tools (such as drills, lathes, mills and 3D printers) by means of a computer and it works as a motorized maneuverable tool or platform, very essential for industrial processes and for the manufacture of precise or complex parts used instead of other tools that require time and high skill and yet will not be accurately produced when compared to the CNC machines. Dr. Maher Yahya also asserted that this machine is very effective for CAD/CAM processes by which we mean the integration of computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) both of which require powerful computers, adding that it is used in manufacturing processes such as the rotation speed of the cutting tool and the linear transmission speed of other axes, etc.
