The department of public policies at the center for strategic and international studies of the University of Baghdad has organized recently a workshop entitled (Addressing the health policy in Iraq after 2003) chaired by the Assist. Lecturer Maha Qais in which she discussed the health policy as one of the branches of the public policy in any country and that is concerned with health aspects for the sake of improving the health status of citizens by monitoring the amounts of public spending on this sector. Also in this study, she took into account the growing needs of the population for health care and the development of the infrastructure of the Iraqi hospitals. Then the Assist. Lecturer Maha Qais recommended that the rate of spending on this field should be increased to about 10%, over the next 10 years, in alignment and on condition that the private sector should play its role in the investment of its resources this sector, through coordination with the government health institutions in the country so as to benefit from the expertise of our most distinguished Iraqi physicians to promote the health reality in the country.
