Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad University, accompanied by the Director General of the administrative and financial department of the ministry of higher education and scientific research, Prof. Dr. Asaad Ghani Jihad have received recently the Chairman of the Council of Commissioners of the High Electoral Commission the Judge Mr. Jaleel Adnan Khalaf and his delegation who came to inspect the workshops hosted by the colleges of languages, education for humanities (Ibn Rushd) and pharmacy to train professors on how to supervise the coming presidential elections in Iraq.
Mr. Jaleel Adnan stressed the role of the faculty members in the electoral process in increasing awareness among the educational communities to participate widely in this experience, also he shed light on the national role that the university professors in overseeing the electoral process taking place in a democratic atmosphere, stressing that they have a fundamental and a constructive role in the success of the electoral process, which will in turn reflect the positive reputation of the Iraqi people before the international observers. For his part, the Chairman of the Council of Commissioners pointed out that the professors can be a key factor for the success of this national process and will increase the confidence of the voters in the integrity of the elections scheduled for October 10, 2021. It is noteworthy that the rector of the University of Baghdad and the Judge made a tour to meet a number of lecturers whose role will be limited to monitoring and supervising and to see the mechanisms of their conduct and to exchange points of view with other relevant parties directly urging them to write and submit periodic reports on the progress of the electoral process and any obstacles that they may encounter if any.
