Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad has presided over the 24th final session of the university’s council for the academic year (2020-2021) with the membership of his assistants for scientific and administrative affairs, the council’s secretary as well as deans of faculties, graduate institutes and centers.

The session began with a discussion of the university’s world ranking in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 where it gained the (+1201) position based on five key performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, citation, international outlook and industry income. The rector urged professors and scholars to publish their research in sober journals, especially “Nature” which is a British weekly scientific journal founded in 1869 and based in London, England with the aim to publish peer-reviewed research in Arabic from a variety of academic disciplines, mainly in science and technology. The members also discussed the possibilities of foreign students’ admission in accordance with the university’s mutual cooperation mechanisms with diplomatic missions in Iraq for cultural exchange purposes between the two parties. Then they stressed the importance of forming specialized committees in all faculties in charge of financial matters to reduce annual expenditures, reconstruction of infrastructure and rehabilitation of laboratories in preparation for the next academic year.
