The continuing education unit at the Al-Khwarizmi college of engineering has organized recently a free electronic course entitled “Factory waste and their impact on the environment: treatment and solutions” with the aim to highlight the positive effects of industry reflected in the society, employment, combating poverty, as well as achieving gender equality, providing education and health care to many individuals, however there are industrial processes that may have many negative effects on the environment.
The lecturers noted that the industrial sector is one of the largest sectors in any country but it is contributing to environmental degradation, despite the regulations and advanced technologies of industrialized countries in which enterprises are required to reduce this impact. They added that many industrial activities and increased demand continue to put pressure on the environment and their natural resources, while developing countries have a multiple negative impact on life and we notice that as the old environmental problems have not been resolved yet, such as deforestation, soil erosion, and other issues accompanying industrialization processes, such as high greenhouse gases, water, chemical and air pollution, high waste volume and desertification.
