The department of physics, in collaboration with Ibn Sina center for e-learning and the continuing education units at the college of science at the University of Baghdad has organized recently an electronic traning course entitled “Computer physics using Matlab” with the participation of a number of students and researchers and programmers from inside and outside the college. The course aimed to identify modern and rapid developments in science that are associated with the increasing demand for computer use in physics and its applications in several areas, including modeling, nuclear fission, as well as microprocessors and satellite applications, laser, study of solid bodies and energy management.

The course was chaired by Dr. Omar Abdul Sada and Dr. Iman Karim who clarified the use of Matlab software that is one of the programs applied in computer physics to conduct complex calculations and simulations, adding that is is developed in particular for use in engineering, mathematical and physical fields, pointing out that it was designed to give the correct answer quickly and with the least effort, to represent the results graphically in more than one dimension.
