The Biological Research Unit for Hot Areas, in coordination with Ibn Sina unit for e-learning and the continuing education unit at the college of science has organized a virtual workshop entitled “Agricultural Mediums” presented by thevAssist. Prof. Dr. Sinaa Walid and Assist. Prof. Dr. Maysa Kazim, in the presence of a number of students, researchers and specialists in agricultural, biological and chemical affairs from inside and outside the college.
The lecturers aimed to introduce the graduate and postgraduate students to the importance of the transplant growth mediums, their types and components and the purpose of use, as well as the methods of preparation and sterilization them in order to find the suitable food for the growth of the microorganism in medical laboratories. They also stated that this method can help researchers to isolate bacteria purely and thus increasing them, as well as to study the developing colonies and to get bacteria such as yeasts and fungi in large quantities for use in the process of manufacturing antibiotics and vaccines in an implant medium that is something essential in the pharmaceutical industry.
