The University of Baghdad was ranked in the first position in Iraq according to the new edition of THE World University Rankings and the (51-60) position in the Arab region university rankings. The University of Technology gained the second place followed by the University of Babylon, so three Iraqi public universities have entered now in this classification.

A total of 125 universities from 14 countries all across the world have been competed in this ranking, as well as 30 universities were also classified without a ranking since they did not meet the requirements. It is noteworthy that the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021 include more than 1,500 universities across 93 countries and regions, based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: (teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook).
