The council of the University of Baghdad held its twenty first meeting chaired by the rector Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi and the membership of his assistants for administrative & scientific affairs, the council secretary, members and deans of faculties, institutes and postgraduate centers. At the onset of the session the members read Surah Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs of Al-Naqa’a Center who were killed by a fire devoured at Al-Hussein Hospital in Nasiriyah. Then they discussed several matters related to the daily supervision of national health safety measures, ensuring the commitment to occupational safety conditions such as the provision of fire extinguishing devices and other protection precautions to prevent any accidents, God forbid.

Dr. Munir al-Saadi stressed that the council’s sessions will be open from now on to keep up with the final exams and emergency matters, as well as directed to hold the sessions of the colleges’ councils continuously to supervise and prepare all the needed requirements for providing a healthy atmosphere for our dear to pass their exams successfully. Also the council of the University of Baghdad approved the scientific promotion of 14 lecturers to the rank of professorship and discussed the integration of the department of Islamic philosophy with the department of Islamic doctrine and thought at the college of Islamic sciences, as well as the integration of the department of Islamic civilization and antiquities with the department of comparative religions, in addition to the adoption of specific curricula for the undergraduate studies quarterly and it then approved the second extension of study for 14 postgraduate students in various disciplines. At the conclusion of this session, the members discussed a scientific and cognitive cooperation mechanism between the Central Library of the University of Baghdad and the Digital Information Center of the Holy Abbasid Threshold for providing open access to theses and dissertations online, also follow-up  a number of technical and logistical matters related to the start of the final examinations for postgraduate students after Eid Al-Adha holiday.
