The college of media at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the department of social studies at the House of Wisdom held lately a scientific conference on “media and crisis management: an integrated approach” at the House of Wisdom in Baghdad. The proceedings of this event started with reciting some verses from the Holy Quran, dedicated for the souls of the martyrs of Iraq.
Then the dean of the college of media, Prof. Dr. Ali Jabbar al-Shemary delivered a speech, followed by the Chairman of the preparatory committee, Assist. Prof. Dr. Khadija Hassan. Also Prof. Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Rasoul, head of the department of social studies at the House of Wisdom gave a speech at the onset of the sessions in the presence of a number of researchers from different Iraqi universities. The researches addressed matters related to the study of the increasing significance and interest in media at the present time, characterized as a tool that works to cover events and convey the truth to people, due to its superior capabilities in moving at high speed, bypassing borders and how to address all the obstacles that face those working in the traditional print, audio or visual media, in addition to the new social networking sites that have become indispensable to the public.
