Assist. Prof. Dr. Marib Nazih Rashid and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Nader, researchers from the institute of genetic engineering and biotechnology for postgraduate studies have published recently a patent entitled: (Finding an alternative treatment for cancer cells outside the bio-body and the induced colon cancer inside the body using therapeutic organisms and their components).

The patent aimed to use lactobacilli and their components as biostimulants to inhibit cancer cells and the induced colon cancer in laboratory rats. The study also included the isolation and identification of isolates of local lactobacilli bacteria from the feces of newborn infants, as well as that of lactobacilli bacteria from the standardized milk used for comparison. The most efficient isolate were selected to be used outside and inside the bio-body characterized by its resistance to bile salts and stomach acidity where the (API 50 CH) system was used to diagnose the most efficient isolate (Lactubacillusacidophilus) to separate the bacterial components of (acidophilus LB) and to study its toxicity in different concentrations for each of the bacterial cells, where the glycoprotein was (1000, 500, 250 125 (μg/ml).
