Prof. Dr. Essam Fadel Alwan, a lecturer at the institute of genetic engineering and biotechnology for postgraduate studies at the University of Baghdad has published recently a new patent entitled: (New diagnostic kits for detecting anti-estrogen receptors) from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) at the ministry of industry and minerals. The researcher tried to detect and study the antibodies against estrogen receptors by the use of ELISA diagnostic assay designed for this purpose since this disease was unknown before,
For the first time globally, antibodies were discovered in the blood of some women who suffer from ovarian cysts because the estrogen in their blood does not work despite its high level. The patent found that when designing the ELISA assay kit to estimate the proportion of antibodies that attack estrogen receptors, the proportion is high in this group of patients, so this discovery will help physicians to find a therapy for such new cases.
