The Lecturer Hamsa Ahmed Jassim, a professor at the institute of genetic engineering and biotechnology for postgraduate studies has contributed recently in the proceedings of the second conference and exhibition of patents held at the college of agricultural engineering sciences and sponsored by the Iraqi center of innovation and creativity with her patent entitled “Determining the genetic variation in the genes of some interleukins (ILs) as genetic markers for the early detection of bladder cancer”.

The patent studied the relationship between five cytokines (IL-1,6 IL-, IL-8, IL-7, and TGF) and their relationship to the occurrence and development of bladder cancer. The results of interleukin-1 showed a positive relationship between the genotype of (T) at 1.566 – = 95% CL, OR = 4.263, rs 16944 and 11.603 as well as the genotype of the (G) allele at locus (rs1800469) for Tumor Necrosis Factor, also the results confirmed the relationship of genetic variation in interleukin (-1) and the growth factor (TGF) for bladder cancer.
