University of Baghdad participates in the first meeting of Iraqi university rectors in Erbil
University of Baghdad participated in the 1st meeting of Iraqi university rectors held Erbil represented by Associate Rector for administrative affairs Prof. Dr. Riyad Khalil Khammas that witnessed the participation of a number of members of Federation of Arab Universities. The first session included the Iraqi universities’ position from this federation and discussing a proposal to establish new Iraqi universities as well as amendment of procedure of the federation and relations between Iraqi governmental and civil universities. The attendees also addressed matters such as Iraq’s continued membership, activating its leading role in supporting and guiding Federation of Arab Universities in scientific research, overcoming obstacles faced by scholars and the necessity of creating common scientific horizons. The session reached at several recommendations, namely to urge Iraqi universities to participate in this membership, create opportunities to exempt Iraqi universities from subscription fees for the past years, grant visas to members and to address the ministry of foreign affairs for treating University rectors, Associate rectors and deans as diplomats as well as establishment of a federation of Iraqi universities.
