Faculty of physical education and sports science sponsors the victory festival 


Faculty of physical education and sports science at University of Baghdad hosted the first Victory Festival for the documentary films on the occasion of the liberation of Mosul from the ISIS terrorist gangs, under the patronage of His Excellency the minister of higher education and scientific research Prof. Dr. Abdul Razaq al-Issa with the assistance of Al Mamun College University under the banner “with the blood of our martyrs, the future blooms”. His Excellency the minister of higher education and scientific research gave the opening speech of this event stating that Iraq is not isolated from the countries and peoples of the world since it has a cultural and civilizational presence not possessed by other countries and that time had come to document the victories of our heroes of the security forces and the popular crowd. He added that the ministry will take on the task of building the human being and reproducing the values that have broken out in the dark era of ISIS by organizing such cultural festivals and forums that might contribute in strengthening of our position in international community and that the ministry is keen to have the Iraqi universities present in the post-liberation stage, stressing that the victory achieved in Mosul is the fruit of the efforts and sacrifices made by all Iraqi people and State institutions. The festival was attended by president of University of Baghdad Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein, his associate for administrative affairs, Prof. Dr. Riyad Khalil Khammas as well as several academic and cultural personalities. This event witnessed presentation of documentary films that embodied life in pre and post liberation of Mosul and some media professionals were honored who contributed in documenting the liberation battles there where University of technology won the first place award for the documentary film named (Will of the people) wile University of Babylon won the second place for the documentary (Partial eclipse) and University of Sumer won the third place for its documentary (Diary of a displaced student).
