The Media and Public Relations Division at the college of science, in cooperation with the department of security clearances at the presidency of University of Baghdad has organized recently a virtual lecture entitled “Cyber Extortion” via Google Meet service with the participation of a number of students, professors and those concerned at the ministry of interior.

The lecture, which was presented by the director of security clearances department Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hamza al-Shammari, aimed to introduce and raise awareness of people on electronic blackmail and its risks when dealing with websites and fake users, as well as to call individuals to exchange information cautiously online and to strengthen the role of family and educational institutions in this regard to immediately report the perpetrators. Dr. Ahmed al-Shammari stressed the need for warning our students not to share their private photos, conversations or video footage and so on, in the social media in order not to be victims of online extortion common among young people with an emphasis on awareness campaigns from time to time in coordination with information security organizations.
