Assist. Prof. Dr. Wiaam Ahmed al-Amili, a faculty member from the institute of genetic engineering and biotechnology for postgraduate studies at the University of Baghdad obtained recently a patent on the use of a mixture of frankincense oil & MMR vaccine for breast cancer treatment. In her study, Dr. Wiaam al-Amili showed that modern treatments try to treat cancer cells with the most effective and secure methods that do not affect normal cells, unlike the previous ways that had many disadvantages in this regard.

The study relied on the viral therapy through the use of the impaired measles virus with frankincense oil as an experimental treatment to induce the scheduled death of human breast cancer cell (AMJ13 and MCF7, respectively). The researcher proved that this method can be applied, especially in cases of resistance to traditional treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy and others by avoiding cellular destruction of non-cancer cells, overcoming cancer cell resistance and high anti-tumor effect against conventional treatments. Also she noted that in case of resistance of cancer cells, caution should be taken so that not to rely on the conventional cancer treatments that impair the patient’s health and trying to implement the synergistic therapies.
