Assist. Prof. Dr. Khamail Shaker al-Jamali, head of the department of Baghdad documentation at the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at The University of Baghdad has delivered the opening speech of the 12th International Conference on War, Hope, Despair and Peace in History held in Monastir, Tunisia.

During her speech, Dr. Khamil Shaker discussed the most important issues of concern to intellectuals and academic elites, namely wars and their negative social consequences on people since they create communities handicapped in their human values, ethics and principles thus turning them into value-backward peoples in the time of globalization.

It is worth mentioning that this initiative offered by the Tunisian World Center for Studies, Research and Development and the Tunisian Mediterranean Society for Historical, Social and Economic Studies is an attempt to work together to avoid the ravages and menace of war.
