The Center for Information Sources at the General Secretariat of the Central Library, University of Baghdad has organized recently an introductory lecture on the 2020 Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program (IYLEP) delivered by Prof. Nawras Abdul Razzaq from the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and Mayada al-Safi from the Higher Education Organization.

The lecture aimed to give some details on the nature of this international academic program and its positive impact on the Iraqi community on general and on the undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated leadership skills and a sense of civil participation which would in return qualifies them to participate in such a fully funded program. In this quest, fifty-two students and supervisors will be associated with educational activities and workshops that will expand their knowledge of joint work to communicate with diverse cultures as well as to encourage them to serve their community through various activities.

It is noteworthy that IYLEP is a four-week summer exchange program funded by the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs which have provided invaluable cross-cultural opportunities for approximately 2,500 Iraqi high school and undergraduate students since its creation in 2007.
