Assist. Prof. Dr. Ismail Hussein Aziz, the associate dean of the institute of genetic engineering and biotechnology studies at the University of Baghdad obtained a special award by the Intellectual Property Promotion Association of Thailand (IPPAT) for his patent entitled “Developing an innovative method of early detection of cervical cancer through molecular indicators of an inherited instance (PAX1)”.

The patent aimed towards a new development of an innovative method of early detection of cervical cancer based on supragenetic genetics which is comparable to those in the world and its results were recorded in world gene banks as references for Iraqi patients, namely the American GenBank (NCBI), the European GenBank (England) and the Japanese GenBank (DDBJ).
