The department of astronomy and space at the college of science has agreed on a joint scientific, research and training cooperation mechanism with the relevant laboratories in Bonn, Germany to upgrade the capabilities of Iraqi researchers and professors in educational and specialized institutions.
This quest was coordinated by Dr. Ahmed Hassan who discussed with his counterparts the possibility of receiving one or two observatories dedicated from Germany to our country to develop the studies and practices of astronomy through the modernization of astronomical observatories by an ambitious German-Iraqi plan for hosting Iraqi astronomers in Germany to be qualified in measurement and monitoring through the use of giant telescopes.
It is noteworthy that Bonn Center is one of astronomy centers of excellence in Germany with a long standing tradition for leading research and advanced teaching in astronomy.
