The national pioneering center for cancer research at the University of Baghdad hosted recently a delegation of international experts from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) related to the World Health Organization (WHO) for the purpose of cancer registration in Iraq.

The director of the center Prof. Dr. Nada al-Alwan met the head of WHO office in Iraq Dr. Adham Ismail to discuss how to support the ministry of higher education’s accreditation and cancer control programs in coordination with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) which currently finances a special capacity-building programme in diagnosis and treatment of cancer in Iraq as well as how to update the database currently in use to document information on infected patients. It is noteworthy that Dr. Nada al-Alwan is currently overseeing the technical cooperation program with IAEA represented by the Iraqi Radioactive Sources Regulatory Authority related to the Council of Ministers.
