The President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Al-Zughaybi, received the Iraqi Ambassador to Portugal, Dr. Adel Mustafa, in a meeting that explored ways to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation with Portuguese universities and to broaden the horizons of international partnerships for the University of Baghdad.
The University President emphasized the institution’s commitment to engaging with global educational experiences and building strategic partnerships with reputable universities. Such efforts, he noted, contribute to advancing academic development and scientific research, in alignment with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s vision of internationalizing education and enhancing the global presence of Iraqi universities.
For his part, the Iraqi Ambassador to Portugal extended an invitation to the University President to visit Portugal, meet with Portuguese universities, and learn from their academic and scientific experiences. Meanwhile, Dr. Al-Zughaybi invited Portuguese students to pursue their studies at the University of Baghdad under the “Study in Iraq” initiative, affirming the university’s readiness to welcome international students and provide a comprehensive educational environment that reflects its distinguished academic heritage.
This initiative supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
