The University Council session at the University of Baghdad witnessed an official celebration marking the presentation of the Iraqi Universities Athletics Championship Cup to the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Atiya. This recognition was awarded in appreciation of the sporting achievement accomplished by the university’s teams in the championship.
The handover ceremony took place in the presence of the members of the University Council, where Dr. Ali Sadiq Dhiyab, Director of the Student Activities Department at the University of Baghdad, presented the cup. The event reflected the spirit of accomplishment and excellence achieved in the field of sports activities, with Dr. Dhiyab emphasizing that this victory is the result of the continuous support provided by the university’s leadership to students across various domains.
The President of the University praised this achievement, commending the efforts of the students, sports teams, and supervisors. He affirmed that the University of Baghdad is committed to strengthening extracurricular activities alongside academic excellence, given their role in shaping students’ personalities and developing their abilities.
This activity also contributes to the realization of one of the Sustainable Development Goals, namely Goal 17, which calls for partnerships to achieve objectives. The university supports all its formations in organizing academic activities both within and beyond the university.
