The University of Baghdad hosted the Iraqi Universities Championship in athletics, organized by the Department of Student Activities within the Directorate of Supervision and Scientific Evaluation at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The event was attended by Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Al-Hashemi, Assistant President of the University of Baghdad for Administrative Affairs, along with representatives from the Directorate of Supervision and delegates from Iraqi universities.

The championship took place at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, with broad participation from sixty-five public and private universities across Iraq, making it one of the largest university sports gatherings nationwide.

Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Al-Hashemi emphasized that hosting this championship reflects the University of Baghdad’s ongoing commitment to supporting student activities and providing a comprehensive environment that fosters skill development, while strengthening communication and integration among educational institutions in Iraq.

Dr. Ali Sadiq Dhiyab, Director of the Student Activities Department at the University of Baghdad, stated that the university achieved remarkable results in several sporting events, securing first place in volleyball, basketball, swimming, and athletics. He added that the university also excelled in artistic activities, winning first place in theater, second place in photography, first place in scouting, and second place in football.

The President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Atiya, extended his highest congratulations to the university’s sports teams, praising the outstanding performance of the athletes. He affirmed that this success was the result of the combined efforts of the players, coaching staff, and the support provided by the organizers of the championship.

This initiative contributes to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals, including Goal 3 (Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages), Goal 4 (Quality education), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the goals).
