The Scientific Affairs Department at the Presidency of the University of Baghdad organized a workshop to discuss the progress of academic journals and mechanisms for their development in line with international standards. This initiative is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of scientific publishing and strengthen the standing of its academic journals. The event was held at the Mahdi Hantoush Hall in the College of Engineering.
The workshop was attended by the Assistant President of the University of Baghdad for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, the Director of the Scientific Affairs Department at the Presidency, Professor Dr. Hussein Qasim Hussein, along with a number of specialists and those responsible for managing academic journals across the university’s faculties. Discussions focused on the key challenges facing journal operations and included proposals and ideas aimed at improving editorial and administrative performance.
In his remarks, Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah emphasized the importance of preserving the scientific achievements of the University of Baghdad’s journals, particularly after several were indexed in international publishing databases. He stressed the need for collaborative efforts to address obstacles that may hinder the advancement of these journals, ensuring their continued progress and strengthening their presence in global scientific repositories.
This activity contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4, which calls for quality education, as well as Goal 17, which emphasizes partnerships to achieve the goals.
