The Center for Strategic and International Studies at the University of Baghdad convened its twenty-fourth annual conference under the theme “Iraq and Geopolitical Conflicts in the Middle East.” The event was attended by the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, supervised by the Director of the Center, Professor Dr. Adel Badiwi, and featured the participation of a distinguished group of researchers and academics from various Iraqi universities.
The two-day conference, held on December 15–16, aimed to examine Iraq’s position amid the geopolitical conflicts unfolding in the Middle East. It sought to highlight the political, security, and economic challenges confronting the Iraqi state in light of rapidly evolving regional and international dynamics, while also analyzing the roles of regional and global actors and their implications for the security and stability of the region.
The program included several scientific sessions and research papers addressing diverse themes, such as the balance of power in the Middle East, the impact of regional conflicts on Iraq’s national security, and the future of Iraqi foreign policy. In addition, the conference offered analytical perspectives and strategic insights designed to support academic research and strengthen the role of research centers in studying contemporary strategic issues.
