The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad organized the First Iraqi Forum for Architecture Departments, with broad participation from 27 public and private universities across various provinces of Iraq.

The forum witnessed notable attendance from architecture professors and engineers working in both public and private sectors, as well as representatives from the Engineers Syndicate and several academic and professional institutions.

The forum aimed to unify academic and professional perspectives, foster the exchange of expertise among architecture departments in Iraqi universities, and discuss the challenges and future prospects of the architectural landscape. It provided an academic platform dedicated to enhancing the architectural education environment in Iraq.

Organizers emphasized that this event represents a significant step toward strengthening scientific and academic communication among architecture departments and opening new avenues for collaborative efforts. These efforts contribute to preparing a generation of architects equipped with the academic and professional awareness necessary to advance the national urban environment.

The forum also sought to establish a permanent platform for interaction and coordination among architectural departments, promote creative competition among students in graduation projects, and support scientific ideas and initiatives that align with labor market demands and national sustainable development plans.

Forum topics ranged from the current academic reality and future outlook of architecture, to the state and aspirations of Iraqi architecture, and the role of architectural competitions in discovering and nurturing young talent. All discussions were framed within a scientific vision aimed at advancing the architectural scene in Iraq and unifying academic and professional efforts in the field.

This initiative supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
