As part of the implementation of the executive plan for the National Strategy for Iraqi Women 2025–2026, the Women’s Affairs Division at the Presidency of the University of Baghdad launched a large-scale tree-planting campaign across the university campus. The initiative was carried out under the supervision of the Office of the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, the Laser Institute for Postgraduate Studies, the University Health Division, and in cooperation with the Department of Administrative Affairs.

The campaign witnessed active participation from female faculty members and staff, in a move aimed at enhancing the role of women in volunteer activities that contribute to environmental protection and the beautification of the university’s surroundings.

Organizers emphasized that the initiative aligns with the university’s efforts to achieve sustainable development by expanding green spaces and promoting environmental awareness among students, faculty, and administrative staff.

At the conclusion of the event, participants expressed pride in taking part in this environmental initiative and called for continued organization of similar campaigns that contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, namely: Goal 5 – Gender Equality, Goal 13 – Climate Action, and Goal 15 – Life on Land, which collectively aim to promote gender equity, address climate challenges, and preserve ecosystems for future generations.
