The Dean of the College of Languages at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Ali Adnan Mashoush, took part in the European Day of Languages celebration, held at the French Institute in Iraq, in the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of France to Iraq, Mr. Alexandre Garcia, and the Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation, Mr. Adam Jansen.
The celebration featured a varied program of activities and presentations, particularly those related to learning European languages such as French and German, as well as short theatrical performances and the recitation of poems and songs, in a festive atmosphere celebrating linguistic and cultural diversity, with active participation from the German Goethe-Institut and the French Institute.
The Dean of the College of Languages delivered a speech in which he reviewed the college’s role in teaching European languages, including French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, and others. He stressed the importance of language education in building bridges of cultural communication between peoples and enhancing knowledge and cultural exchange between these countries and Iraq.
It is worth noting that the European Day of Languages is an occasion dedicated to celebrating linguistic and cultural diversity, encouraging language learning, and promoting dialogue and cultural exchange between peoples.
This activity contributes to achieving two of the Sustainable Development Goals, namely Goal 4, which relates to quality education, and Goal 17, which relates to forming partnerships to achieve the goals.
