College of Nursing Leads Research Scene and Wins First and Second Places in “Al-Qabas Award for Medical Sciences”

In a distinctive academic achievement that consolidates the leadership of the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad and its advanced standing in supporting and developing scientific research, the college’s faculty members won first and second place nationwide in the field of nursing at the “Al-Qabas Award for Medical Sciences,” which was hosted by the city of Mosul under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the participation of a select group of university presidents and researchers from across Iraq.

This distinguished recognition reflects the college’s research excellence and the soundness of its scholarly output. Assist. Prof. Dr. Alaa Jawad Kadhim won first place, while Prof. Dr. Sadiq Abdulhussein Al-Fayyad took second place, following a rigorous scientific evaluation conducted by specialized judging committees. The evaluation was based on the quality and volume of scientific publications in journals indexed in the global Clarivate databases with high impact factors, and on the fulfillment of the competitive criteria approved by the Ministry.

This achievement embodies the college’s commitment to elevating the level of health sciences and translates its strategic vision of directing scientific research toward serving society and linking its academic output to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3, concerning Good Health and Well-being, Goal 4, concerning Quality Education, and Goal 17, Partnerships for the Goals.
