On Sunday morning, September 21, 2025, the University of Baghdad officially began student attendance, marking the launch of the new academic year 2025–2026. This initiation aligns with the academic calendar approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The start of the year was accompanied by intensive efforts undertaken by the university to enhance infrastructure and improve the educational environment, in accordance with labor market demands and the strategic direction of the Ministry of Higher Education. The university also witnessed an expansion of its international programs and a strengthening of academic cooperation pathways with several local and global universities.
This approach reflects the university’s commitment to supporting the “Study in Iraq” initiative, which has contributed to attracting students from various Arab and foreign countries—underscoring the rising stature of Iraqi higher education both regionally and internationally.
Such efforts advance the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4, which advocates for quality education, and Goal 17, which promotes partnerships for the achievement of these goals.
