Professor Dr. Baha Ibraheem Ansaf, President of the University of Baghdad, received Dr. Nabil Ghazi Hashem, Professor of Forensic Medicine at the University’s College of Medicine, in his office today. The meeting was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Amin Abdul Hassan Manea Al-Alwani, as part of ongoing efforts to support rare scientific expertise and promote specialized medical disciplines.
During the meeting, the university president discussed ways to strengthen this vital field, emphasizing that forensic medicine is a cornerstone of scientific and medical disciplines directly linked to the justice system and community service. He commended Dr. Nabil’s unwavering dedication and professionalism in fulfilling his academic and professional responsibilities despite existing challenges.
Furthermore, the university president highlighted the importance of supporting specialists in rare fields, particularly forensic medicine. He noted that, with backing from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the university has successfully ensured the continuity and development of this discipline by attracting qualified professionals and providing suitable conditions, such as adequate housing for academic experts, to guarantee stability and encourage scholarly contributions.
Dr. Nabil Ghazi is currently the sole specialist in forensic medicine at the College of Medicine, shouldering significant responsibility for teaching the subject at the undergraduate level while also supervising the Forensic Medicine Diploma Program, which represents a valuable addition to the university’s academic offerings.
