Baghdad University has successfully concluded a series of academic and scientific discussions with Iran’s Sharif University of Technology, focusing on strengthening bilateral collaboration in scientific and technological research. The university’s administration confirmed that the Science Park project is nearing its official launch, marking a major milestone in higher education and innovation in Iraq.

These discussions were part of a coordinated series of meetings held at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Baghdad University, the Scientific Research Authority, and the Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, finalizing the procedures required to inaugurate the Science Park.

Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs at Baghdad University, stated that the meetings with Sharif University were highly productive, leading to a formal agreement for collaboration on the Science Park project. He described the initiative as a hub for research, innovation, and technological development, designed to bridge universities with the job market and support entrepreneurial projects for students and researchers.

This initiative supports two key Sustainable Development Goals:

  • Goal 4: Quality education, by fostering academic excellence and scientific research.
  • Goal 17: Partnerships for achieving sustainable development, by enhancing international cooperation in education and technology.
