As part of efforts to enhance academic and scientific collaboration between Baghdad University and Iran’s Sharif University of Technology, a delegation from the latter visited Baghdad University’s Science Park, which is still under construction but has reached advanced stages of completion. The visit provided insight into the project’s progress and the transformative impact it is expected to have on the research and entrepreneurship ecosystem at the university.
The visit was part of the Iranian delegation’s agenda, as they toured Iraq to discuss future academic partnerships between the two universities. The delegation was accompanied by Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs at Baghdad University, and Dr. Enas Khalifa Al-Sharqi, Director of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department.
Members of the delegation praised the design of the building and the efforts to establish a fully integrated scientific incubator, which aligns with global standards in supporting innovation and advanced technologies. They emphasized Sharif University’s strong interest in activating academic exchange programs and joint research collaborations, particularly in engineering, technology, and renewable energy.
For his part, Professor Abdullah expressed Baghdad University’s ambition for the Science Park to become a distinguished regional hub, attracting top talent and fostering scientific partnerships. He noted that expanding collaboration with prestigious universities like Sharif University is a strategic step toward achieving this vision.
This initiative contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4, which focuses on quality education, and Goal 17, which emphasizes partnerships for achieving global development objectives.
